Lend A Helping Paw!

Every year, millions of unwanted cats and dogs are sent to the pound. Here in the United States alone, the number of animals who get put down at pounds every year would circle the globe 1 and 1/3 times. That’s around 2-5 million dogs and cats who pay the price for some person’s selfish irresponsibility.

There are things you can do to show your support and make the world a better place for those who can’t help themselves.

Helping Paws is not an organization, nor do we seek financial donation. We are simply here to spread the word for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Support Your Local Animal Shelter

Every visit is heart breaking when you know that many of the cute and fuzzy critters you stop and say hello to may not live to see another day. Nevertheless, you can still keep their spirits high as well as your own.

  • Volunteer

Animal Shelters are always looking for volunteers. Visit your local shelter and find out how you can sign up.

  • Donate

Have some toys lying around the house that your pet is no longer interested in? Donate them to a shelter near you. Same goes for blankets, food and water dishes, even cat habitats and dog houses.

Prevent Animal Cruelty And Trips To The Pound

  • Spay And Neuter Your Pets!

Yes, you’ve heard this saying about a million times I’m sure—and it’s still good advice!

By doing this, it will reduce the number of pets who have to be sent to the pound. In this case, most of them kittens and puppies.

  • Never Give Or Sell An Animal To Strangers

If you are looking to give your pet a better home, never give him to someone you don’t know. If possible, give him to a friend or family member, someone you have known for a very long time!

If this is not possible and you have no choice but to give the pet to a stranger, be sure to check that person out first. Never give the animal away without questioning. Ask about the person’s home life; make sure they have the evidence and witnesses to back all that info up, then—and only then—should you put the pet in their custody.

  • No Kill Shelters

That’s right, there are real animal shelters that will not put down animals!

Run a search or check your phonebook for one closest to you.
